French EV charging company Electra will reduce the price of fast charging to €0.49 per kilowatt-hour across several European markets starting this month, as part of a wider effort to make high-speed charging more accessible and support the energy transition.
The new price applies exclusively to users who initiate charging sessions via the Electra mobile app, the company announced. Previously, the app-based rate in Germany stood at €0.59/kWh, while ad hoc payments via card or QR code remained at €0.69/kWh — a price that appears unchanged in the current update.
The new pricing applies nationwide in Germany, Austria and Switzerland without a time limit. In Italy, Electra will reduce its app-based charging rate even further, to €0.39/kWh throughout July and August. This is nearly 50% below the standard rate and is being marketed as a limited-time offer during the summer travel season.
“Germany is a key market for the transport transition – we want to show that fast, reliable and affordable charging can also be a reality here,” said Paul Tonini, Country Manager of Electra Germany.
Electra, which began operations in Germany in May with a site near Munich, plans a rapid expansion with hundreds of fast-charging hubs. It has already established more dense coverage in Austria, Switzerland, and northern Italy, particularly along key holiday corridors such as the Munich–Lake Garda–Rimini route.
The company’s charging parks feature its own design concept, including illuminated mast structures to signal availability and enhance visibility. The app not only enables discounted pricing but also allows users to reserve charging spots. A stored bank card is required, but no subscription fee applies.
Electra’s infrastructure is also accessible through third-party mobility service providers, though pricing will depend on the MSP’s terms.
