Daimler Truck has expanded its CharterWay rental portfolio in Germany by officially adding the all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, offering customers access to the long-haul electric truck through flexible contracts from one day up to three years.
The eActros 600, which has been in series production since November 2024, became available to CharterWay customers in June. “With the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, we enable a sustainable and cost-effective alternative for heavy-duty haulage and make the entry into electromobility simple and risk-free,” said Martin Kehnen, CEO of CharterWay.
The eActros 600 is the latest addition to CharterWay’s lineup of around 6,000 rental trucks. Daimler Truck does not break down how many of these are electric but confirmed that all current electric truck models are included. Available for hire alongside diesel options are the eActros 300 and 400 (whose production will end later this year), the urban eEconic, the eArocs 400 for construction, and the Fuso eCanter.
The electric flagship features a battery capacity of more than 600 kWh, a new electric drive axle with up to 600 kW peak output, and an estimated range of 500 kilometres on a single charge. It supports fast charging via CCS up to 400 kW, with megawatt charging to follow once the MCS standard is finalized.
Daimler Truck had announced in January it would integrate over 100 eActros 600 units into the CharterWay fleet this year. The vehicle has already seen significant uptake since its market debut, with Amazon ordering 200 units—Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ largest electric truck contract to date—alongside deployments with Brummer Logistik, HIVED, Lidl Italia, and multiple Daimler logistics partners.
CharterWay’s rental model forms part of a broader Truck-as-a-Service offering, including charging infrastructure support, consulting, maintenance, and digital fleet services. The company noted that as European demand for rental solutions continues to grow, flexible access to long-range electric trucks is becoming increasingly important.
An internal restructuring will also take place at the end of the year, as CharterWay transitions from Daimler Truck AG to Daimler Truck Financial Services. The company emphasized that this shift will not impact customers, with all existing contracts and services continuing without interruption.
