China Central Television (CCTV) has awarded Chery’s Exlantix ET the title of Car of the Year 2024. The announcement was made during the fifth China Auto Awards ceremony, broadcast on CCTV-2 on January 27. The jury comprised representatives from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Dealers, the Society of Automotive Engineers, and the Council for the Promotion of International Trade in the Automotive Industry.
Known domestically as the Exeed Sterra ET, the Exlantix ET is set to enter international markets under its global name. Chery’s Executive Vice President, Gao Xinhua, attributed the vehicle’s recognition to its “three core technologies”: a range extender system, four-wheel drive, and an intelligent driving system.

The Exlantix ET’s Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) variant features a 1.5-liter turbocharged generator with a thermal efficiency of 44.5% and fuel consumption of 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers. Equipped with a 67-liter fuel tank, it offers a combined range of 1,500 kilometers under CLTC conditions. The 41 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, supplied by Gotion High-tech, provides a pure electric range of 240 kilometers.
The vehicle’s four-wheel-drive system includes two electric motors: a 150 kW motor on the front axle and a 195 kW motor on the rear axle, delivering a total output of 345 kW (462 horsepower) and 634 Nm of torque. This configuration enables the Exlantix ET to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Chery states that the system allows for 0-100% torque distribution between the axles.
The intelligent driving system is powered by dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips, offering a computing power of 508 TOPS. With 30 sensors, the SUV supports end-to-end map-free intelligent driving.
