AUMOVIO Introduces AI and Infrared Camera System to Improve EV Safety in Poor Visibility
German automotive technology firm AUMOVIO said it will introduce a new artificial intelligence-powered vehicle camera system at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2026, aimed at improving visibility and safety for driver assistance and automated driving systems in adverse weather and low-light conditions. The system uses AI-based image processing to enhance contrast and clarity in challenging environments such as fog, rain and darkness, delivering more accurate environmental data to a vehicle’s central control units. AUMOVIO said the technology has been designed to improve object recognition while managing data loads to avoid overburdening onboard computing systems. See…
British electric motor specialist Yasa, owned by Mercedes-Benz, has unveiled a prototype in-wheel drive system built around its latest axial-flux motor, as automakers continue to explore alternatives to conventional electric drivetrains in pursuit of higher efficiency and lower vehicle weight. The prototype combines Yasa’s 12.7-kilogram axial-flux motor, which has achieved a power density of 59 kilowatts per kilogram, with a newly developed lightweight inverter. The motor delivers a short-term peak output of 750 kilowatts and a continuous output ranging between 350 and 400 kilowatts, a level of performance that could support demanding electric vehicle applications when deployed in paired wheel…

Scout Motors is moving closer to finalising the production design of its upcoming vehicles as the brand advances global testing and prepares for pre-production targeted for late 2026, according to executives speaking to Automotive News. The design of the production models remains largely consistent with the early promotional vehicles unveiled last year, with only minor adjustments made for manufacturing feasibility. Cody Thacker, vice president of commercial operations at Scout Motors, said the company’s test program has expanded rapidly across multiple regions. “We’re very quickly getting to something that looks and feels like real production vehicles,” Thacker said, as several generations…
Subaru Solterra Earns Five-Star Euro NCAP Rating With Strong Safety and Driver-Assistance Performance
Subaru Europe said the all-electric Subaru Solterra has received a maximum five-star overall rating from the 2025 European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), surpassing minimum requirements across all four tested categories: Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road Users and Safety Assist. In its announcement, the company stated the SUV “demonstrates the high level of protection and assist-system performance expected of Subaru vehicles.” The Solterra delivered an 88% score in Adult Occupant protection, achieving maximum points in occupant-interaction assessments and side mobile-barrier testing. Euro NCAP reported that the passenger compartment remained stable during frontal offset impacts, with dummy readings showing…
Changan Automobile opened Auto Guangzhou 2025 with a long-term plan to accelerate its electrification strategy, announcing it will launch more than 50 new energy vehicle (NEV) models by 2030. Lincoln Electric, Edge Energy and DC America Unveil 100 kW Single-Phase Fast-Charging Platform
Lincoln Electric, Edge Energy and DC America have introduced a collaborative charging platform designed to deliver up to 100 kW of DC fast charging using standard single-phase electrical service, offering a workaround for sites unable to support three-phase upgrades. The companies said the modular, skid-mounted system gives small businesses, municipalities and fleet operators a faster and more economical route to deploy high-power charging, without waiting for extensive grid upgrades. High-capacity DC chargers typically require three-phase power, which many commercial properties and rural locations do not have. Utility installation of three-phase service often involves new transformers, trenching, regulatory approvals and lengthy…
The City of Boca Raton will launch its first public autonomous shuttle service in Mizner Park on November 21, 2025, in partnership with Guident and Circuit Transit. The MiCa shuttle will operate at low speeds along a fixed loop, connecting key destinations for residents and visitors. The vehicle is supervised via Guident’s Remote Monitoring and Control Center (RMCC) platform, which provides real-time telemetry, predictive safety monitoring, and encrypted teleoperation. The RMCC allows certified operators to remotely intervene if necessary, shifting primary safety responsibility from the vehicle to the centralized control center. Circuit supplies the electric shuttle hardware and manages day-to-day…
Stellantis to Adopt Tesla Charging Standard for North American, Japanese, and South Korean EVs
Stellantis has announced it will integrate Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports into select battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) across North America, Japan, and South Korea, giving drivers access to more than 28,000 Tesla Superchargers. The automaker said existing BEVs in North America, including the Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona, will be the first to gain Supercharger access in early 2026, followed by the 2026 Jeep Recon and future models across brands including Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Maserati.
