BYD posted record monthly new energy vehicle (NEV) sales in June, with 382,585 units sold, reflecting an 11.98% year-on-year increase. The figure represents the company’s strongest monthly performance in 2025, following a series of price cuts announced in late May.
Despite the milestone, sequential growth was marginal, up just 0.03% from May, marking the third consecutive month with month-on-month increases below 1%.
The June total includes 377,628 passenger NEVs—up 11.00% year-on-year and 0.19% from the previous month—and 4,957 commercial NEVs, which surged 242.57% year-on-year but declined 10.62% compared to May.
Battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales among passenger NEVs reached 206,884 units, the second consecutive month above the 200,000 mark. This segment posted a 42.50% year-on-year gain and a 1.23% rise from May. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sales totaled 170,744 units, down 12.45% from a year earlier and 1.05% from the previous month.

In May, BYD launched discounts ranging from 10% to 30% for select models purchased before the end of June, prompting similar pricing actions from other domestic automakers.
Overseas sales remained a key growth driver, with BYD selling 90,049 vehicles internationally in June. This marked a 233.58% increase from the same period last year and the seventh consecutive month of new highs in overseas volumes.
In the second quarter, BYD delivered 1,145,150 NEVs, up 16.06% year-on-year and 14.42% quarter-on-quarter. Passenger NEV sales rose 14.70% to 1,127,173 units, while commercial NEV deliveries surged 352.48% to 17,977 units.

The company sold 606,993 passenger BEVs in Q2, up 42.47% year-on-year and 45.78% from the first quarter. Passenger PHEV sales fell 6.56% year-on-year to 520,180 units.
BYD’s overseas NEV sales reached 258,182 units in Q2, marking a 144.71% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, its power battery and energy storage battery installations for the quarter totaled 81.973 GWh, up 91.44% from a year earlier.
