Polestar, the premium electric vehicle (EV) brand jointly owned by Geely Holding and Volvo Cars, has closed its last remaining direct-sales store in China, located at L+ Plaza in Shanghai’s Qiantan area, local media Lanjinger reported on Tuesday. China’s NEV Retail Sales Rise 15.5% in September as BEV Deliveries Hit Record 826,000 Units
China’s passenger new energy vehicle (NEV) market continued to expand in September, with battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales reaching an all-time high, according to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Passenger NEV retail sales rose 15.5% year-on-year to 1.296 million units in September, up 16.2% from August. Although slightly below the CPCA’s preliminary estimate of 1.307 million units, the figure surpassed its earlier forecast of 1.25 million units. Geely Auto has launched the 2026 Xingyuan, an updated version of its popular compact electric vehicle (EV), with a limited-time starting price of RMB 65,800 ($9,240). The move positions the Xingyuan among the most affordable EVs currently available in China. The new model is offered in six variants, with guide prices ranging from RMB 68,800 to RMB 98,800.
