Mercedes-Benz has reported its first rise in battery-electric vehicle (BEV) sales in six quarters, helped by the launch of the new electric CLA and improved availability of its electric vans. The automaker sold 51,200 BEVs across the group in the third quarter of 2025, marking a 9% year-on-year increase and a 22% gain compared to the previous quarter. Leapmotor posted record monthly deliveries in September, extending its streak of growth as demand for its lineup of electric and extended-range vehicles continues to build in China. Chinese regulators have approved reserve reports submitted by CATL and Gotion High-tech for lithium resources in Yichun, Jiangxi, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday. Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio, said on Weibo it has delivered its 20,000th L90 just two months after the launch of the large SUV. The milestone highlights Nio’s efforts to broaden its market reach in China’s competitive electric vehicle sector. Chinese electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) developer Ehang said it will unveil its new VT35 aircraft on October 13, expanding its product portfolio as it pushes deeper into urban air mobility. The VT35, a long-range lift-and-cruise passenger model, will be introduced two years after Ehang’s flagship EH216-S received its Type Certificate. Chinese technology group Xiaomi has officially opened its first overseas research and development centre for electric vehicles in Munich as it prepares to enter the European car market in 2027, the company confirmed.
