Tesla has reduced the price of its long-range rear-wheel drive Model 3 sedan in China by $1,400, less than a month after introducing the longest-range version of the car in the country.
The model, launched on August 12 with a range of 830 kilometers under the CLTC standard, now starts at about $35,700, down from its initial price of $37,100. At launch, it was priced roughly 14 percent higher than the entry-level rear-wheel drive Model 3, which remains at around $32,400.
The long-range rear-wheel drive version expanded the Model 3 lineup in China to four variants, joining the long-range all-wheel drive and performance versions, which are priced at approximately $39,300 and $46,800 respectively. Prices for the other three trims remain unchanged.
Delivery times vary by model, with the performance version requiring 3-5 weeks, while the other three Model 3 variants carry wait times of 1-3 weeks. Tesla is also maintaining September purchase incentives, including zero-interest financing over five years and an $1,100 insurance subsidy.
The locally produced Model Y lineup remains unaffected, with delivery times of 1-3 weeks for lower-priced trims and October delivery for the highest-priced version.
