Nissan Motor Co. is recalling more than 19,000 LEAF electric vehicles in the United States due to a potential risk of battery overheating during fast charging, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). German engineering group Voith said it will spin off its commercial vehicle division from the Voith Turbo unit into a new independent company, Driventic, which will specialize in both alternative and conventional drive technologies. Chinese autonomous driving company WeRide has begun pilot operations of its Robotaxi GXR and Robobus services in Ras Al Khaimah, expanding its presence to a third emirate in the United Arab Emirates. Toyota’s electric vehicle (EV) sales in the United States collapsed in September, even as rival automakers reported surging demand ahead of the expiration of a $7,500 federal tax credit.
