UK-based EV charging manufacturer Rolec has partnered with Scottish charging funder Connekt to accelerate the rollout of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the country, the companies said on Monday. The collaboration is supported by a multi-million-pound investment from the GF1 Growth Fund.
The partnership focuses on the UK’s destination charging sector, including hotels, universities, marinas, and leisure sites, where fewer than 1% of nearly 70,000 potential locations currently have EV chargers installed. By combining Connekt’s funding and advisory services with Rolec’s manufacturing and installation expertise, the companies aim to remove financial barriers for businesses considering EV infrastructure deployment.
“By working closely with the Connekt team… we will be able to bring our combined expertise to a sector with immense potential,” said Darren North, National Sales Manager at Rolec. Johnny Manning, Founder of Connekt, described the partnership as a “natural fit,” citing strong alignment and mutual trust between the teams.
Rolec, which has supplied and installed over 390,000 chargepoints in the UK, will provide hardware, installation services, and local technical support. Connekt will fund installations and offer site-specific advice, maintenance options, and energy management strategies. Installations are already underway, with commitments for additional sites expected over the coming year.
The partnership aims to address the growing demand for EV infrastructure as more drivers transition to electric vehicles, particularly in sectors where destination charging has been slow to develop.
