UK electric vehicle charging provider Pod Point has acquired fleet charging specialist EO Charging following the company’s entry into administration earlier this year. Pod Point, which is backed by French energy company EDF, said the acquisition would strengthen its commercial fleet and depot charging operations as demand for electric transport infrastructure grows in the United Kingdom. EO Charging entered administration in April 2026 after operating for roughly a decade and pursuing international expansion plans into markets including the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Italy. The company had secured $80 million in funding in 2023 to support expansion in North…
E.ON plans to acquire UK energy supplier OVO as part of a strategy to expand its retail energy business and accelerate the rollout of flexible energy services linked to electric vehicles, home batteries and digital energy management. The companies said the proposed transaction is intended to support the development of a more customer-focused and digitally managed energy system in the United Kingdom as electrification and decentralised energy generation continue to grow. According to E.ON, the acquisition aligns with its broader effort to integrate technologies such as EV charging infrastructure, rooftop solar systems and residential battery storage into a flexible energy…
Finnish charging equipment manufacturer Kempower has introduced the Kempower Mega Satellite Flex, its first charging dispenser to combine Megawatt Charging System (MCS) and CCS charging connectors in a single unit. The company unveiled the product at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas as part of its expansion into heavy-duty electric vehicle charging infrastructure. See also: Kempower, Windrose and EV Realty Test High-Power Truck Charging in California Kempower first introduced its proprietary MCS charging system in 2024, targeting electric trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles with charging power of up to 1.2 megawatts and currents reaching 1,500 amperes. Initial deployments of the…
ABB E-mobility has introduced its OM X-Series charging platform at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas, expanding its portfolio of high-power charging systems for fleet operators and charging network providers. The OM X-Series is designed to support charging sites with power outputs ranging from 800 kilowatts to 10 megawatts and can handle more than 100 charging points, according to ABB E-mobility. Allego has launched an updated version of its mobile application, enabling electric vehicle (EV) drivers to access not only its own charging stations but also those operated by third-party providers across Europe. The move addresses a long-standing challenge in the EV sector, where users often rely on multiple apps, subscriptions, and charging cards to access different networks—frequently encountering inconsistent pricing and limited interoperability. With the upgrade, Allego users can now initiate charging sessions at partner networks directly through a single account, covering around one million charging points across Europe. Electric truck charging operator Milence said electric heavy-duty vehicles are approaching or in some cases surpassing diesel trucks on total cost of ownership in several European markets, though inconsistent policy support and infrastructure deployment continue to slow adoption across the region. In two white papers published this week, the company said countries including the Netherlands, Denmark and Switzerland have moved into early large-scale deployment of electric heavy-duty vehicles, while many other European markets remain in the initial stages of electrification. Milence said adoption is progressing at different speeds across Europe largely because of diverging policy frameworks. In its report, Bridging…
Renault Group has integrated its electric vehicle charging solutions—previously operated under Mobilize Beyond Automotive—directly into its core business, while rebranding the activities under a new identity, “Plug Inn,” the company said. The move forms part of a broader restructuring programme initiated in 2025, aimed at streamlining operations and focusing on core activities. As part of this transition, Renault had already integrated its charging and energy services into its main business in December and discontinued its e-carsharing operations. Under the new branding, Renault will unify its charging ecosystem, renaming key services to reflect the Plug Inn identity. The bidirectional charging solution…
The Michigan Department of Transportation said it is preparing a third round of public applications for electric vehicle charging funding after securing federal approval to deploy remaining funds under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program. The approval, known as “FBO certification,” allows Michigan to access the remaining $51 million from its total $106 million allocation through fiscal year 2026. The funding is part of a broader federal initiative to expand EV charging infrastructure across the United States. MDOT said the next funding round will aim to ensure statewide access to charging infrastructure, with a focus on closing gaps in the…
ChargePoint said it has launched an expanded electric vehicle charging network in partnership with South Coast Air Quality Management District, enabling more than 90 charging ports across Southern California to serve both agency employees and the public. The deployment includes 55 new Level 2 charging units capable of supporting 94 vehicles simultaneously, replacing older infrastructure. Several of the installed units are ChargePoint’s CP6000 stations, which the company said can deliver charging speeds about 60% faster than typical Level 2 chargers and feature its Omni Port connector compatible with modern EVs without adapters. All charging stations are connected to ChargePoint’s cloud-based…
French multi-technical services provider SPIE is expanding its electric vehicle charging infrastructure in France with a new focus on heavy-duty transport, as it prepares to deploy seven high-power charging (HPC) stations for electric trucks along key motorway routes. The stations will be installed at service areas operated by Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhône (APRR), targeting logistics corridors used by long-distance haulage companies. The initiative is designed to align charging operations with mandatory driver rest periods, enabling electric heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to gain up to 300 kilometres of range during short breaks, SPIE said. “The transportation of goods by road is entering an…
