Greek charging operator PPC Blue has signed a partnership agreement with Romanian home improvement retailer Dedeman to deploy more than 600 electric vehicle charging points across Romania, expanding charging access at retail and logistics locations nationwide.
The project will see charging infrastructure installed at over 60 Dedeman stores and two logistics centres, including dedicated charging facilities for electric trucks.
PPC Expands Romanian Charging Network
The agreement marks the latest step in Public Power Corporation’s expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Romania.
PPC entered the Romanian market in 2023 through the acquisition of Enel Romania from Italy’s Enel Group. Since then, the company has been building out its charging network under the PPC Blue brand.
The latest partnership follows PPC’s recent announcement of plans to deploy more than 100 fast and ultra-fast charging points along key transport corridors in Romania and Greece with support from European Union funding.
More Than 600 Charging Points Planned
Under the agreement, PPC Blue and Dedeman intend to install more than 600 charging points with a combined installed capacity of 30 MW.
Based on the announced figures, the average installed capacity would be approximately 50 kW per charging point. However, the companies have not disclosed how charging power will be distributed across locations or the proportion of AC and DC chargers planned for the network.
The infrastructure rollout will cover Dedeman’s retail locations as well as logistics facilities, supporting both passenger electric vehicles and commercial electric transport.
Focus on Accessibility Across Romania
Andreea-Dana Popescu, General Manager of PPC Blue Romania, said the partnership is intended to make charging infrastructure more accessible across the country.
“Charging an electric car should be as simple as a visit to the store. We want every electric vehicle driver in Romania to have a charging station within reach, regardless of the city they live in – and that is precisely why our partnership with Dedeman matters so much to us. Together, we reach places where people are already going, whether they live in a large city or in a smaller community.”
Dedeman President Dragoș Pavăl said the initiative aligns with the growing importance of sustainable mobility solutions.
“Expanding the electric mobility infrastructure through our collaboration with PPC blue is a natural step in a society where sustainable solutions are becoming increasingly important.”
First Sites Scheduled for December Launch
The first charging stations developed under the partnership are expected to begin operations in December.
Initial installations are planned at Dedeman stores located in Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Roman, Alexandria, Târgu Jiu, and Onești.
PPC Blue said it intends to equip 21 Dedeman stores with charging infrastructure by the end of 2026, prioritizing regions where public charging availability remains limited.
Existing Chargers to Join PPC Blue Network
In addition to new installations, approximately 60 charging points already operating at Dedeman locations will be integrated into the PPC Blue network.
The move will immediately expand PPC Blue’s footprint in Romania while creating a larger charging ecosystem for electric vehicle drivers across the country.
The partnership reflects continued investment in charging infrastructure throughout Central and Eastern Europe as governments and private companies work to support growing electric vehicle adoption and meet broader transportation decarbonization goals.
