The University of Warwick has teamed up with charging infrastructure company Zest to install 78 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across its campus. The collaboration is part of a 15-year agreement under which Zest will manage and maintain the facilities following an investment of £1.3 million.
George Saxon, Head of Transport Systems & Operations at the University of Warwick, expressed enthusiasm for the project: “We have been delighted to partner with Zest on this significant step towards sustainable transport solutions on our campus. The new charging facilities align with our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting those transitioning to electric vehicles.”
Robin Heap, Founder and CEO of Zest, highlighted the initiative’s potential to encourage EV adoption: “Providing abundant charging facilities ahead of demand encourages more people to make the switch to electric vehicles. Zest is proud to be supporting the University of Warwick as it looks to reduce carbon emissions generated from all forms of transport. After announcing our partnership in May, we’re delighted to already be operating over 70 charging spaces, making public EV charging more accessible for staff, students, and visitors alike.”
Although specific charger types were not detailed in the announcement, an accompanying image reveals Tritium fast charging stations installed at the university. This development builds on Zest’s recent initiatives, including a similar deal to establish EV charging infrastructure in Warrington. The partnership underscores both the university’s and Zest’s commitment to facilitating the transition to cleaner, more sustainable transport systems.
