EV Charger Manufacturer Blink Charging Expands Manufacturing Capacity in Maryland

Blink Charging, a leading provider of EV charging infrastructure, is ramping up its manufacturing capabilities with the opening of a new 30,000-square-foot factory in Bowie, Maryland.

The new facility, which is LEED Gold-certified, will serve as Blink’s primary manufacturing hub in North America. It will feature an additional production line to enhance efficiency and boost production of EV chargers.

By establishing this new factory, Blink Charging aims to shift its production from overseas to domestic manufacturing, aligning with the Build America, Buy America Act.

In addition to the manufacturing facility, Blink announced the establishment of its global corporate headquarters in a 15,000-square-foot building located in Bowie’s Melford Town Center, citing its strategic proximity to Washington, DC.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore (D-MD) expressed enthusiasm about Blink’s decision, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Blink’s headquarters to the Great State of Maryland. This decision not only affirms our commitment to climate action but also supports our efforts to create new job opportunities and enhance Maryland’s competitiveness.”

Blink’s current manufacturing facility produces approximately 15,000 EV charging units annually. With the expansion, the company plans to increase its production capacity to over 50,000 charging units per year. The Maryland facility will focus on assembling Blink’s Level 2 Series 6, Series 7, and Series 8 EV chargers.
