Tesla saw a boost in sales in January, with 66,051 China-made vehicles sold, including exports, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). The figures show a 10.37% increase from the same period last year and a 18.38% rise from December 2022.
The CPCA will provide more details on the numbers in the coming days, including the number of vehicles sold domestically and those exported. Tesla operates a factory in Shanghai that produces the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover and serves as an export hub for the company.
According to previous information released by Tesla, vehicles produced in the first half of each quarter are primarily for export, while those produced in the second half are intended for local deliveries.

This figure is the first sales data to include exports from the Shanghai plant after Tesla reduced prices in China in January, a move that led to 30,000 orders in three days according to local media.
Tesla plans to produce an average of 20,000 vehicles per week at its Shanghai factory in February and March, according to a recent Reuters report. The factory, which has an annual capacity of 1.1 million vehicles, saw monthly production exceed 80,000 in September 2022.
