The NIO ET7 electric sedan has just been rated at the top of the latest Euro NCAP safety evaluation. The NIO ET7 was also awarded five stars in the latest Green NCAP test.
The NIO ET7 is right behind the Tesla Model 3 in the European efficiency test, scoring an impressive 9.4 points out of 10.
The NIO ET7 electric sedan scored “91% in the Adult Passenger category, 87% in the Child Passenger category, 73% for Vulnerable Road Users and 95% for Safety Assistance.”
In addition to the NIO ET7, the ES8 electric SUV achieves a similar five-star overall safety rating from Euro NCAP in 2021.
“With all active and safety features as standard, NIO’s ET7 was designed to offer its users, wherever they are in the world, the highest levels of safety. Providing users with peace of mind is crucial for the user experience. From the outset, we wanted to go beyond achieving test results and through our R&D find solutions to go further. If it improves safety, it is worth doing.” said NIO Vice President of Vehicle Engineering Danilo Teobaldi
Euro NCAP (The European New Car Assessment Programme) is an independent organization that tests cars for the European market.
NIO says its electric vehicles are built to the highest safety standards through the use of innovative high-strength materials. NIO also emphasized the structural design of its EV body with the use of front and side crash beams and one-piece reinforced B-pillars.
The company notes that some of its efforts are aimed at meeting IIHS’s “Good” safety rating. The ET7 is also equipped with an active safety system, which has helped it earn its highest ever Euro NCAP Safety Assistance score.
As we previously shared, Green NCAP has just released its latest tests regarding vehicle energy efficiency and carbon emissions. The ET7 earned the organization’s highest five-star rating and only slightly tops the list alongside the Tesla Model 3 and Renault Megane E-Tech. NIO added that ET7 received the following numerical ratings by category:
- 10/10: Clean Air Index
- 9.6 of 10: Greenhouse Gas Index
- 9.4 of 10: Energy Efficiency Index.
The ET7 also achieved its “declared” range in the WLTC+ lab tests.
