Stelato, the electric vehicle brand jointly developed by Huawei and BAIC, has launched the G9 SUV in China, expanding the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance’s lineup into the off-road-oriented SUV segment. The model is available in battery-electric and extended-range electric versions, with prices starting at 429,800 yuan ($63,390).
Stelato G9 Offered in BEV and EREV Versions
The Stelato G9 is offered in 10 variants across BEV and EREV configurations. Its starting price is 429,800 yuan, below the previously announced pre-sale price of 439,800 yuan. The range-topping version is priced at 549,800 yuan.
The SUV will make its public debut on August 21 at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, where HIMA is scheduled to display its broader model lineup.
Unlike Stelato’s earlier models, the G9 adopts a boxier exterior design aimed at the off-road SUV segment.
The vehicle measures 5,377 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width and 1,897 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. It is available with five- or six-seat configurations, while dual zero-gravity front seats and an onboard compressor refrigerator are standard across the lineup.
120 kWh Battery Provides Up to 728 Km
The Stelato G9 uses Huawei’s 800-volt Giant Whale battery platform and comes standard with dual-motor all-wheel drive.
The powertrain produces up to 437 kW, equivalent to 586 hp, and enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than five seconds.
The BEV version uses a 120 kWh battery pack and has a claimed CLTC range of up to 728 km.
The EREV version is available with either a 56 kWh or 75 kWh battery. Its claimed battery-only CLTC range reaches up to 405 km, while combined range is rated at up to 1,366 km.
Huawei Driver Assistance and Level 3 Architecture
The G9 is equipped with Huawei ADS 5.0 and a new-generation dual-path LiDAR system. Huawei said the vehicle incorporates 38 high-precision sensors.
Huawei also describes the G9 as the first luxury hardcore SUV using an architecture designed for Level 3 autonomous driving. The model has received approval in Beijing for Level 3 autonomous-driving road tests at speeds of up to 120 km/h, according to Huawei.
The vehicle’s automated-driving capabilities are supported by its sensor and computing architecture, although road-testing approval does not mean that Level 3 autonomous driving is available for unrestricted customer use.
G9 Introduces Huawei Tuling All-Terrain Platform
The Stelato G9 is the first model to use Huawei’s all-terrain Tuling platform.
Its suspension system includes dual-chamber air suspension and dual-valve continuously variable damping shock absorbers. The system provides up to 130 mm of ride-height adjustment, allowing the vehicle to adapt its ground clearance to different driving conditions.
The combination of adjustable suspension, all-wheel drive and the boxy SUV design positions the G9 against vehicles focused more heavily on off-road capability.
Stelato Targets Premium Off-Road SUV Segment
The G9 competes with models such as the Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 from BYD and the Tank 700 from Great Wall Motor.
These vehicles typically use body-on-frame architectures and prioritize off-road capability, while the Stelato G9 combines an electric or extended-range powertrain with advanced electronic architecture and a technology-focused cabin.
The launch gives HIMA another entry into China’s expanding premium SUV market while extending Stelato’s lineup beyond its previous vehicle designs.
