Mercedes spill more details about next Mercedes-Benz EQG, offer “Phenomenal Performance”

The G-Class, which has been adopted as a status symbol by many, is about to enter the electric era. And it seems that even though it uses a new powertrain, Mercedes seems to be faithful to its roots which is the 4×4 ladder frame with the body on top, outstanding off-road capabilities, outstanding performance. extraordinary and of course premium prices.

The EQG concept was launched one year ago and will enter production in 2024 in almost unchanged form.

Mercedes-Benz chairman Ola Källenius had some comments after he drove the vehicle prototype. He told MotorTrend that

The G-Wagen is the car everyone wants you to apply for and you’re lucky if you get one. It has a cult status. This is unique. The G will always remain a G. By definition by its off-road capability, it is not on a platform, it is its own vehicle, fully stopped, and will remain its own vehicle.

From a sleek concept the EQG comes with slightly modernized headlights, LED grille and slightly smoothed corners.

The Mercedes boss noted driving an electric G-Wagen prototype around an off-road proof facility in Austria.

It was mindboggling. I know I’m raising expectations here, but I was so excited stepping out of that car that I cannot wait for the electric G to come. It was so competent, so easy to ride in. It will have phenomenal performance on and off the road, coupled with the most energy dense battery we can find in a vehicle that is slightly aerodynamically challenged in terms of its drive co-efficient.

The EQG will come in a battery pack with a higher density and capacity. LFP batteries will offer up to 40 percent higher energy density than Mercedes electric cars can now offer.

Mercedes-Benz will release all electric G-Wagen in mid-2024
