Kia’s seven-seat PV5 Passenger electric people carrier has become eligible for the UK government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG), reducing its on-the-road price by £1,500 across all three trim levels.
The incentive now applies to the Essential, Plus and range-topping Elite versions. The seven-seat model was excluded from the grant when it launched in June, although Kia said at the time that it expected clarification on its eligibility.
With the grant applied at the point of purchase, the entry-level PV5 Passenger Essential now starts at £35,495.
Seven-Seat PV5 Offers Up to 246 Miles of Range
The seven-seat version of the PV5 Passenger is equipped with a 71.2 kWh battery and has a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 246 miles.
Its inclusion in the ECG scheme expands the range of Kia electric vehicles eligible for the UK incentive. The EV4 and five-seat PV5 Passenger were among the brand’s first qualifying models in December 2025. Additional EV3 and EV4 versions became eligible in April 2026, followed by the EV2 Long Range in July 2026.
Kia UK said:
Kia is currently one of only eleven brands to offer fully electric cars with the maximum ECG, highlighting the brand’s strong environmental manufacturing credentials required to qualify for the grant.
UK Grant Reduces Upfront EV Costs
The Electric Car Grant offers either £1,500 or £3,750 towards the purchase of eligible new electric cars, depending on the vehicle’s qualifying band. The discount is applied at the point of purchase, reducing the upfront cost for buyers.
Eligibility is assessed against government requirements covering factors including emissions, sustainability and warranty support.
The PV5 Passenger’s new status gives UK buyers a lower entry price for Kia’s seven-seat electric people carrier, while extending the manufacturer’s participation in the government-backed EV incentive programme.
