BYD has surpassed 5,000 cumulative vehicle sales in Vietnam, marking a milestone for the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker in Southeast Asia, according to a report by Yiche.
In 2025, its first full year operating in the Vietnamese market, BYD sold 3,718 vehicles in the country. The company had previously sold 485 units in 2024 after entering the market in June of that year.

BYD launched its first three models in Vietnam in July 2024: the Dolphin compact hatchback, the Seal mid-size sedan, and the Atto 3 compact crossover, which is marketed in China as the Yuan Plus. The automaker now offers nine models in Vietnam.
The sales milestone comes as BYD deepens its regional footprint. Last month, Vietnamese automaker Kim Long Motor announced a partnership with BYD to build a $130 million electric vehicle battery plant in Vietnam.

The facility, to be located in Kim Long Motor’s industrial park, will be developed in two phases. Phase one will have an annual production capacity of 3 gigawatt-hours (GWh), focusing primarily on supplying batteries for trucks, buses, vans and other new energy commercial vehicles, with an eye on expanding exports in the region. Phase two is expected to increase total annual capacity to 6 GWh.
Globally, BYD sold 4,602,436 NEVs in 2025, representing a 7.73% year-on-year increase. Overseas deliveries reached 1,046,083 units, up 150.74% from a year earlier.
