Chinese automaker BYD launched its latest electric SUV, the Sealion 7, at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025 on Thursday, marking its official entry into the country’s growing EV market.
The Sealion 7, already available in several neighboring markets, comes in two variants: the Premium model, priced from IDR 629 million ($39,700), and a higher-performance version at IDR 719 million ($45,400) on-the-road Jakarta. “Thank you to consumers in Indonesia. Today, we officially launch the BYD Sealion 7,” said Eagle Zhao, President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, at the event in JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The SUV features a modern and aggressive front design with sleek headlights, while the rear adopts a coupe-inspired silhouette with a sporty aesthetic. Built on BYD’s latest e-Platform 3.0 EVO, the vehicle integrates an Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) to enhance the driving experience.
The Premium variant, equipped with a two-wheel-drive system, offers a range of up to 567 kilometers based on NEDC testing, while the all-wheel-drive performance model delivers a range of 542 kilometers.
