Zest has opened a new ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging facility at a recently launched Aldi supermarket in Market Rasen, expanding public charging access along a key route in Lincolnshire, the company said.
The site, developed in partnership with property developer Morbaine Ltd., includes four charging bays, each capable of delivering up to 160 kilowatts of power. The chargers are designed to allow drivers to recharge quickly while stopping for shopping or food, serving both the Aldi store and an adjacent Starbucks drive-thru.

Located on the A46 at Gallamore Lane, the main road linking Lincoln and Grimsby, the facility targets an area with limited access to rapid and ultra-rapid charging. Industry data cited by the companies shows only a small number of comparable chargers available within a 20-mile radius, highlighting a gap in local infrastructure.
“We’re delighted to partner with Zest on this development,” said Graham Adams, a director at Morbaine. “Adding ultra-rapid charging to the site enhances the offer for customers and futureproofs the location as demand for EV infrastructure continues to grow.”

Zest said the project reflects its strategy of placing high-power chargers at everyday destinations. Robin Heap, chief executive of Zest, said integrating charging into routine stops can help lower barriers to electric vehicle adoption. “Installing EV charging infrastructure in locations people already visit every day, whether they’re grabbing a coffee or doing their weekly shop, is key to making the switch to electric simple and convenient,” Heap said.
The Market Rasen site adds to a growing network of charging locations co-located with retail and food outlets, as operators seek to improve utilisation rates while supporting local authorities’ emissions-reduction goals. The chargers support customers of Aldi and Starbucks, as well as passing traffic on the A46 corridor.
