Xpeng has shipped 300 right-hand-drive X9 MPVs to Thailand, marking the first international deliveries of its most expensive model. The company hosted a ceremony in Guangzhou on Wednesday, celebrating the milestone as part of its broader expansion into global markets.
The Xpeng X9, launched in China on January 1, 2024, is the automaker’s flagship seven-seater MPV based on its Smart Electric Platform Architecture (SEPA) 2.0. The model starts at RMB 359,800 ($49,620) in China and is positioned as a premium offering to enhance Xpeng’s margins. In 2024, the X9 accounted for 11.39% of Xpeng’s total deliveries, with 21,653 units sold.

Xpeng is advancing its presence in Southeast Asia, having announced a strategic partnership with Thai dealer Neo Mobility Asia in March 2024 at the Bangkok International Auto Show. The X9 follows the G6 SUV, which launched in Thailand last August, as Xpeng’s second model available in both left-hand and right-hand drive configurations. The company has also showcased the X9 in Hong Kong and Malaysia and intends to launch the MPV in Norway.
“We are accelerating our global expansion with a series of initiatives to solidify our position as a key player in the international EV market,” said He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of Xpeng.

Xpeng is leveraging its expertise in smart driving technology to enhance its global competitiveness. The company announced that its Turing AI Intelligent Driving System will enter the global adaptation phase in 2026, promising advanced autonomous driving capabilities tailored for international markets.
As part of its push to improve user experience, Xpeng has also become the first Chinese automaker to roll out two synchronized global OTA updates—OTA 5.2 in August 2024 and OTA 5.4 in January 2025. Starting in 2025, the company will further enhance over-the-air (OTA) updates for international users.

Xpeng is also investing in a global ultra-fast charging network, beginning with Southeast Asia in 2025. In the first half of this year, the automaker plans to establish charging stations in Hong Kong and Thailand, followed by expansion into Asia, Europe, and Australia. The company will collaborate with local charging operators to ensure seamless access for its customers.
Xpeng entered the Norwegian market in 2021 as part of its initial push overseas but faced challenges, including a slowdown in its international efforts in late 2022. The company resumed its expansion in February 2023 with the European debut of the G9 SUV and the new P7 sedan.

By the end of 2025, Xpeng aims to expand its presence to 60 countries and regions and establish more than 300 service locations worldwide.
