Xpeng will introduce the Max variant of its Mona M03 electric sedan in May, featuring advanced smart driving technology, the company’s chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said on Monday.
“We will build a $20,000 top-of-the-line smart driving product,” He said at an artificial intelligence (AI) event in Beijing, emphasizing the company’s commitment to making high-level autonomous driving more accessible.

Xpeng officially launched the Mona M03 on August 27, 2024, with three variants—515, 620, and 580 Max—priced from RMB 119,800 ($16,390) to RMB 155,800. Deliveries of the lower-priced variants began last August, while the Max variant was scheduled for 2025 after the Chinese New Year holiday.
Unlike the other models, the Mona M03 Max will support pilot-assisted driving not only on highways but also on urban roads, according to Xpeng. Yang Guang, product head of the Mona lineup, previously said the Max variant would offer the same smart driving experience as the P7+, a mid-to-large-size sedan launched in November 2024.

He predicted that over the next decade, the penetration of high-level smart driving features could increase from 2% to between 50% and 90%.
