Xiaomi is targeting sales of 10,000 units for the SU7 Ultra, the high-performance variant of its first electric vehicle (EV), following the success of the regular SU7 model. Xiaomi’s founder and CEO, Lei Jun, revealed the sales target during a New Year’s celebration at an event, marking the start of the Year of the Snake.
Lei Jun outlined the sales target for the SU7 Ultra at the gathering, where employees were presented with Hongbao, traditional red envelopes, as part of the holiday festivities. Lei also promised to reward Xiaomi’s president, Lu Weibing, with a larger red envelope at the end of the year if the sales goal is met.

“I will ‘release’ the SU7 Ultra when I launch the Xiaomi 15 Ultra phone at the end of this month,” Lei said in a video shared on his Red Note account. The exact details of the model’s introduction remain unclear, as the term “release” could refer to either a reintroduction or an official launch. Lei had previously confirmed that the official launch would take place in March 2025.
The SU7 Ultra, which debuted at a product launch event on October 29, 2024, went up for pre-sale shortly after the event, with a starting price of RMB 814,900 ($112,040). According to Xiaomi EV, the pre-sale saw 3,680 units ordered in the first 10 minutes. The production model of the SU7 Ultra entered the regulatory catalog in November, with core specifications revealed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The SU7 Ultra will be available in 112 stores across 42 cities starting February 5, 2025, for public showcase. The vehicle is powered by a 93.7 kWh battery pack supplied by CATL, offering a range of up to 630 kilometers. It also features three motors designed by Xiaomi itself, with peak power ratings of 288 kW and 425 kW.
