Xiaomi has announced a new partnership with Germany’s Nürburgring race track, as the company expands its efforts in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
As part of the agreement, Xiaomi will become a premium partner at the Nürburgring, the world’s longest permanent race track. The deal includes the naming of the “Xiaomi curve” at turn 12 on the Grand Prix circuit and the installation of a new advertising display on the Nordschleife section of the track, according to a statement from the Nürburgring.
Xiaomi’s involvement with the Nürburgring builds on its increasing presence in the automotive market. The company launched its first electric vehicle, the SU7 sedan, in March 2024, and has seen consistent sales growth. In April, Xiaomi EV delivered over 28,000 units, marking the seventh consecutive month of deliveries exceeding 20,000 vehicles, according to Xiaomi’s announcement on May 1.
“We are pleased that Xiaomi, a well-established brand from Asia, is using the Nürburgring as a platform for development and communication,” said Nürburgring CEO Christian Stephani. Xiaomi is now also participating in the track’s test and development program, which allows automotive companies to assess their vehicles and components over 16 weeks each year.
Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra prototype set a record lap time of 6:46.874 at the Nürburgring in October, making it the fastest four-door car on the track. CEO Lei Jun shared on Weibo that the production version of the vehicle is currently undergoing further testing at the race track.
Xiaomi EV has set a target of 350,000 vehicle deliveries for 2025, as announced by Lei in March. Delivery times for the SU7 have increased to about 40 weeks, up from 30 weeks at the time of its launch.
