Xiaomi has officially launched the high-performance Xiaomi YU7 GT, marking the company’s expansion into the premium electric vehicle segment.
The YU7 GT starts at 389,900 yuan ($57,290), while a higher-specification version is priced at 429,900 yuan.
The launch comes alongside Xiaomi’s newly introduced lower-cost standard YU7 variant, which starts at 233,500 yuan and is aimed at competing with Tesla’s Tesla Model Y in China.
The YU7 GT is larger than the standard YU7 model, measuring 5,015 millimeters in length, 2,007 millimeters in width and 1,597 millimeters in height, while maintaining the same 3,000-millimeter wheelbase.
The vehicle is powered by Xiaomi’s HyperEngine V8s EVO dual-motor system, which delivers a combined peak output of 738 kilowatts, equivalent to 990 horsepower.
According to Xiaomi, the YU7 GT can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.92 seconds and has a top speed of 300 kilometers per hour. The SUV also offers a driving range of up to 705 kilometers.
Lei Jun, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Xiaomi, said the YU7 GT was developed for what he described as “modern elites.”
Xiaomi also said the vehicle set a production SUV lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, completing the circuit in 7 minutes and 22.755 seconds.
The company said the result surpassed a previously announced lap time of 7 minutes and 34.931 seconds and positioned the YU7 GT ahead of performance SUVs including the Audi RS Q8 Performance and Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT.
The SUV features an aggressive exterior design with a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, while customers can also choose a 24-karat gold carbon-fiber badge option.
Xiaomi said the YU7 GT uses its Jiaolong Chassis Master Edition system, incorporating dual-valve CDC shock absorbers and closed dual-chamber air suspension technology intended to improve handling performance.
The launch further expands Xiaomi’s rapidly growing automotive business as Chinese manufacturers intensify competition in both the mainstream and premium electric vehicle markets.
