Maextro, a premium brand born from the joint venture between Huawei and JAC, is set to debut with its first electric sedan, the Maextro S800. Designed to rival luxury giants like the Mercedes-Benz Maybach and Nio ET9, the S800 impresses with its commanding size and powerful performance. Stretching 5,480 mm in length, it surpasses the Maybach S-Class (5,469 mm) and Nio ET9 (5,325 mm), making it the largest EV sedan in China and one of the most imposing mass-produced sedans globally.

Pre-orders for the Maextro S800 opened in November 2024, allowing customers to reserve the vehicle for a deposit of 20,000 yuan. While the official pricing has not yet been disclosed, estimates place the cost between 1 million and 1.5 million yuan (approximately $136,000 to $205,000). The manufacturing of the S800 will take place at the newly completed Maextro factory in Hefei, a city where JAC has previously produced vehicles for Nio. On December 9, Maextro applied for a sales license for the S800 in China, revealing key powertrain details.

Powertrain Options: BEV and EREV

The S800 will be available as both a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and an Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV). The BEV version features three electric motors—a 160 kW motor in the front and two 237.5 kW motors on the rear axle—delivering a combined output of 635 kW (852 horsepower).

The EREV version, which includes a 1.5 T engine functioning solely as a range extender, offers two trims. The dual-motor trim has a 160 kW motor in the front and a 230 kW motor on the rear axle. The tri-motor version mirrors the BEV setup, with a combined peak output of 750 kW (1,006 horsepower) when including the range extender. Both versions utilize CATL’s ternary NMC batteries, with the EREV model equipped with a 63.262 kWh pack, enabling an electric-only range of 272 to 371 km under CLTC conditions.
