Huawei has unveiled official images of the Maextro S800, a massive electric sedan developed through its joint venture with JAC. Measuring 5,480 mm in length, the Maextro S800 is the largest EV sedan in China and among the largest mass-produced sedans globally, aiming to compete with luxury models like the Mercedes-Benz Maybach and Nio ET9.
The Maextro S800 boasts an impressive 1,006 horsepower and will be available in two variants: a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). The BEV version features a tri-motor configuration with a 160 kW motor in the front and two 237.5 kW motors at the rear, delivering a peak output of 635 kW (852 hp).

The EREV variant uses a 1.5-liter engine as a range extender, with two trims offering dual-motor and tri-motor setups. The tri-motor EREV matches the BEV’s layout, achieving a total output of 750 kW (1,006 hp).
Blind pre-orders for the S800 began in November 2024 with a reservation deposit of 20,000 yuan, although pricing has not yet been finalized. Industry estimates place the price between 1 to 1.5 million yuan ($136,000 to $205,000).

The vehicle will be manufactured at Maextro’s new factory in Hefei, which was completed in December. The facility is significant, as JAC previously produced Nio vehicles under a contract manufacturing agreement before Nio assumed control of its production plants.
“With the S800, we aim to redefine luxury and performance in the electric vehicle market,” Huawei and JAC stated during the launch, emphasizing the sedan’s potential to set new benchmarks in the premium EV segment.
