Volvo Trucks North America will integrate Greenlane’s public charging network into its Volvo Open Charge service, marking a key step in the development of electric truck infrastructure across the United States, the companies said on Thursday.
The partnership begins with the opening of Greenlane’s first flagship charging location for electric trucks in Colton, California, near San Bernardino. The site will feature more than 40 public chargers for heavy-, medium-, and light-duty zero-emission vehicles. Additional locations are planned for Long Beach, Barstow, and Baker, all positioned along the I-15 corridor between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Greenlane, a joint venture between Daimler Truck North America, NextEra Energy Resources, and BlackRock, is constructing a charging corridor along the 280-mile route, with charging stations spaced approximately every 60 to 90 miles. The company plans to ultimately deploy over 100 charging stations equipped with DC fast chargers offering up to 400 kW of power.
The collaboration represents Volvo Trucks’ first official partnership with a charge point operator (CPO) in North America. Volvo Open Charge users will benefit from added functionalities such as advance charger reservations, enhancing operational efficiency for fleet operators transitioning to electric transport.
