Volkswagen has revealed new design sketches of the upcoming ID.1, providing a closer look at the compact electric vehicle expected to be priced at approximately ā¬20,000.Ā The latest images, published on LinkedIn, follow an earlier teaser of the front design released last week.
The sketches showcase a boxy yet modern aesthetic, reminiscent of the ID.Life concept car introduced in 2021. Volkswagen describes the ID.1ās styling as a balance between “bold confidence” and “timeless simplicity,” highlighting its compact yet spacious build.
Notably, the brand hints at a design philosophy aimed at creating an emotional connection, with a ācharismatic frontā and a āsmiling rear end,ā similar to Renaultās approach with the electric Renault 5.

Volkswagen will officially unveil the ID.1 show car on March 5, though it will not yet be a production-ready model. The company positions the vehicle as a pivotal step in expanding its EV portfolio to reach new customer segments.
While full technical specifications remain undisclosed, the ID.1 is expected to differentiate itself from the ID2.all concept, primarily in its front-end design.
