Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast and Infineon Technologies AG announced that they were extending their partnership a few days ago in Singapore.
The two companies will establish an application competency center under the name VinFast–Infineon Competence Center (VICC) which focuses on electro-mobility to accelerate the development of future smart mobility solutions.
The inauguration of the VICC is planned for the first quarter of 2023 and marks a new level in the relationship between the two companies in the early development phase of the next-generation smart mobility solution VinFast.
VinFast and Infineon Technologies AG, the world leader in automotive semiconductor solutions, announced to extend their partnership on the occasion of Infineon’s OktoberTech™ Asia Pacific 2022 Technology Forum in Singapore.

As VinFast’s strategy to ensure its product excellence in the global EV market, VICC will initially focus on developing a new Electric Drive Train (EDT) for the VinFast electrification platform.
“VinFast’s goal is to create intelligent mobility solutions for a sustainable future,” said Mdm. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairman of Vingroup and Global CEO of VinFast in the announcement shared on Twitter.
Thuy added, Infineon’s advanced products and solutions will help increase VinFast’s production efficiency and support the company to achieve its goals more quickly.
The announcement also states that with its broad product and technology portfolio, Infineon will provide technical support and guidance in the selection of semiconductors including conventional technologies and those based on WBG (Wide Bandgap) semiconductor materials, including silicon carbide (SiC).
The competency center will also have a laboratory with testing and measurement equipment to provide rapid product validation.
“The growth of electro-mobility is undeniable. Infineon is committed to driving this progress together with partners like VinFast who demonstrate high execution speed and determination,” said Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and CMO Automotive division at Infineon.
“We will assist VinFast’s electrification journey and support the progress of their electric platform design.” he added.
Infineon is at the heart of the automotive industry’s transformation towards sustainable mobility. The two companies had been working together for more than three years before this newly extended agreement.
