Polestar is rolling out major updates for its Polestar 3 electric SUV, enhancing both software and hardware capabilities. The latest over-the-air (OTA) software update introduces a digital key function, allowing owners to lock and unlock their vehicle using an Apple iPhone or Apple Watch.
The digital key, stored in Apple’s Wallet alongside boarding passes and payment cards, can be shared with up to five users, with customizable access permissions. The feature is also compatible with Android devices, enabling cross-platform sharing. The announcement follows Samsung’s recent confirmation that its Digital Key functionality would be available for the Polestar 3. The Polestar 4 is expected to receive the same feature soon.

On the hardware front, Polestar will upgrade the Polestar 3’s core computing system for the 2026 model year, replacing the existing NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier processor with the more advanced NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin. Current owners will receive the upgrade free of charge at authorized service centers.
“The ability to upgrade the hardware of our cars when new technologies become available is the perfect demonstration of our commitment to deliver the very best ownership experience to our customers,” Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller said. “With the Orin processor upgrade, the already outstanding Polestar 3 gets even better.”

Customers will be notified when the new processor is available and can schedule appointments for the installation.
Manufactured in the United States, the Polestar 3 starts at $68,900, featuring a 111-kilowatt-hour battery pack and an EPA-estimated range of 350 miles.
