Dutch e-bike manufacturer VanMoof has returned to the market with two new high-end models, the S6 and the S6 Open, marking its first major launch since filing for bankruptcy in 2023. The announcement signals a fresh start for the brand, which previously gained recognition for its tech-forward approach to urban mobility.
The S6 and S6 Open share a core set of specifications, including a 250W front hub motor with 68 Nm of torque, four levels of motor assistance, and a non-removable 487 Wh battery that provides a claimed range of up to 150 km (93 miles). Both models are capped at a top speed of 25 km/h (15.5 mph) to comply with European e-bike regulations. Charging the battery takes approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes. Additional features include hydraulic disc brakes, a built-in kick lock, automatic rider recognition for unlocking, Hi-Vis smart lights, an integrated alarm, Apple FindMy compatibility, and anti-theft hardware.
The two models differ mainly in size and rider suitability. The S6 is the larger and heavier option, measuring 1815 x 1051 x 654 mm and weighing 23.5 kg. It is recommended for riders between 165 cm and 210 cm in height. The S6 Open offers a more compact frame, measuring 1671 x 1026 x 654 mm and weighing 22.5 kg, suitable for users between 155 cm and 200 cm. Wheel sizes also differ, with the S6 equipped with 27.5” wheels and the S6 Open using 24”. Both models support customization via the VanMoof companion app and include an auto-shift rear hub system for seamless riding.
The S6 series is now available for reservation starting at €150, with full pricing set at €3,298 (approximately $3,750). Deliveries are scheduled to begin in August, and the bikes are available in blue, light grey, and black color options.
