British electric motorcycle maker Maeving has raised nearly $15 million (£11 million) in a fresh funding round aimed at expanding its footprint in the United States, where the company says sales already represent about 40% of its global total in 2025.

The Coventry-based startup has attracted riders with its retro-inspired designs and relatively affordable pricing in a sector where high costs, range limitations, and charging infrastructure have hindered adoption. Its flagship model, the Maeving RM1S, is priced at $9,995 in the U.S. and offers a claimed top speed of 70 mph and an estimated range of 80 miles per charge.

“Well, Maeving probably isn’t here to help you do both,” the company said in reference to riders who want a single machine for both weekday commuting and longer recreational rides. “But the good news is, it’s priced so reasonably that if all you want to do is hit your daily commute and look good doing it, this is an EV motorbike that can do exactly that without breaking the bank.”

Founded in 2017, Maeving has marketed its bikes primarily as urban commuters, acknowledging the challenges that electric motorcycles face in the U.S., including limited infrastructure and charging speeds compared with cars. The company said the new funding will accelerate its expansion beyond California, its first U.S. market, as it seeks to strengthen its presence across more states.

Industry reviewers have noted the bikes’ simple design and everyday usability, though Maeving’s limited range makes them less suited for long-distance touring. Still, analysts say the brand’s combination of style, affordability, and early traction in the U.S. could give it an edge as the electric two-wheeler market matures.
