Einride plans to add 500 Tesla Semi electric trucks to its U.S. fleet under a new collaboration with Tesla, expanding its battery-electric truck fleet in the country to 750 vehicles. The trucks will operate through Einride’s Saga AI platform for customers including Amazon, with deployment planned across several major U.S. freight corridors.
500 Tesla Semi Trucks to Expand Einride Fleet
Einride said the procurement of 500 Tesla Semi trucks will support freight operations for Amazon and other customers. The company described the planned deployment as the largest Tesla Semi deployment to date.
Einride and DAF Integrate Level 4 Autonomy With Electric Truck Platform
The procurement is expected to begin in September 2026 and be completed within two years. Einride said the financing will be fully covered through third-party solutions, but did not disclose whether the trucks will be purchased, leased or obtained through another arrangement.
Once the 500 vehicles are added, Tesla Semi trucks will account for two-thirds of Einride’s planned 750-vehicle battery-electric fleet in the United States.
The trucks are expected to operate across North America, with new electric freight corridors planned in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Georgia.
Saga AI to Coordinate Electric Freight Operations
The Tesla Semi deployment will be integrated with Einride’s Saga AI platform, which the company uses to manage electric vehicle fleets, charging and connectivity networks.
The platform is designed to coordinate individual electric trucks as part of a wider logistics network while accounting for variables such as charging requirements and energy costs.
Einride said Saga AI has so far enabled more than 19 million electric miles and 42,000 optimization sessions worldwide.

Tesla Semi Enters Series Production
The agreement comes as Tesla prepares to scale production of the Semi in the United States. Series production began this spring at a dedicated facility adjacent to Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada.
The facility is designed for annual production capacity of 50,000 trucks, although production is expected to ramp up gradually.

Tesla has previously disclosed two Semi configurations. The Standard Range version has a claimed range of 325 miles, or about 523 km, while the Long Range version is rated at 500 miles, or approximately 800 km.
Both versions use three integrated electric motors with up to 800 kW of power. Battery capacities are 548 kWh for the Standard Range model and 822 kWh for the Long Range version.
Semi Supports 1.2 MW Charging
The Tesla Semi is also designed to use megawatt-scale charging. Tesla’s charging system can deliver up to 1.2 MW using its V4-based charging technology.
The charging architecture uses satellite charging units connected to a separate Power Unit. Tesla has said the system is designed to restore most of the Semi’s approximately 800-km range in about 30 minutes.

Megawatt charging infrastructure is being developed in parts of the United States to support the deployment of electric heavy-duty trucks.
Einride and Tesla Target Commercial Deployment
Tesla’s Semi has been operating in limited numbers on U.S. roads, with early vehicles largely produced on a pilot line. Tesla’s own fleet has accounted for many of those units, while 36 trucks have been confirmed in PepsiCo’s California fleet.
Tesla began producing pre-production Semi vehicles in October 2022 and subsequently refined the design before moving toward series production.

The companies said the arrangement will give Einride customers earlier access to the Tesla Semi as production expands.
The planned deployment represents a significant expansion of electric heavy-duty freight operations in the United States, combining Tesla’s battery-electric truck platform with Einride’s fleet-management software and logistics services.
