UK charge point operator Trojan Energy has secured a contract from Camden Council to install 570 electric vehicle charge points across the London borough by the end of 2026. The infrastructure will utilize Trojan Energy’s ‘flat & flush’ technology, which keeps chargers close to the ground rather than using traditional charging columns.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Camden Council. Trojan Energy’s mission has always been to ensure everyone benefits from the energy transition,” said Ian Mackenzie, CEO of Trojan Energy. “After the huge success of our trials in 2022, we are delighted to now be able to support the borough’s ambition towards sustainable travel, the switch to EVs, and to help residents who are keen to see many more of our charge points rolled out across Camden.”

The charge points, which provide AC charging at up to 22 kW, will be deployed in clusters of up to ten units. These are connected via underground cables to power cabinets that can be located up to 100 metres away. The chargers also feature parking bay sensors, removing the need for dedicated EV bays and allowing a more flexible parking system.
Camden Council previously piloted Trojan Energy’s technology in 2022 as part of an Innovate UK project. Under the new contract, the first 70 charge points are set to go online in July 2024.

“Our rollout of hundreds more EV charge points will help us meet the objectives we set out in Camden’s Transport Strategy, which aims to deliver a sustainable transport system and streets that are accessible and inclusive for all,” said Councillor Adam Harrison, Cabinet Member for Planning and a Sustainable Camden. “By promoting active travel such as walking and cycling and facilitating this shift to electric vehicles with convenient charging points, we hope to improve air quality, reduce emissions, and support environmental resilience across the borough.”
