Berlin-based charging payment company Cariqa has partnered with U.S. charging infrastructure provider ChargePoint to enable charging station operators to process direct, QR code-based payments through the Cariqa platform. The partnership will initially launch across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
QR Code Payments Without an App
The partnership centers on Cariqa Go, a service that allows EV drivers to pay directly at charging stations without downloading an app, creating an account or using a charging card.
The payment process begins when a driver scans a QR code displayed at a compatible charging station using a smartphone. The QR code opens a mobile payment page showing the charging provider’s branding, available prices and payment methods.
Drivers can then select a supported payment option, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit cards or PayPal, before activating the charging session.
Available payment methods may differ depending on the market where the service is launched.
ChargePoint Integrates Cariqa Go
Cariqa Go operates independently of individual charging operators’ backend systems. For ChargePoint stations, the service is integrated into the company’s be.ENERGISED platform.

ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer said the integration provides charging operators with another way to generate value from their existing infrastructure without requiring them to develop their own payment systems.
“As the European charging market matures, operators are increasingly focused on getting more value out of their equipment,” said ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer.
The partnership also creates a direct sales channel for ChargePoint customers, giving them access to Cariqa’s network of Demand Partners. The network includes A Better Routeplanner, Chargeprice, Here Technologies and TariffEV, among other charging applications.
Cariqa Expands Beyond Its Original Platform
Cariqa initially positioned its platform as a direct connection between charging point operators and EV drivers, aiming to reduce reliance on intermediary e-mobility providers and roaming fees.

The company’s original platform uses an app-based model and facilitates the relationship between charging operators and drivers while supporting dynamic pricing, payment processing, billing and customer support.
Major German charging operators including EWE Go and Pfalzwerke began using the service in early 2025, followed later by operators such as Mer and TEAG Mobil.
Cariqa Go was subsequently added as a separate solution focused specifically on ad hoc charging payments.
Initial European Rollout
The Cariqa and ChargePoint integration will initially be available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
