Tesla has revealed a redesigned version of its electric Class 8 truck, the Tesla Semi, marking a key step toward full-scale production.
The updated model features a new light bar spanning the front of the cab and several structural and engineering enhancements aimed at improving performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.

According to Tesla executive Dan Priestley, the latest front-end redesign incorporates multiple functional upgrades. “The new front end, besides having a new look, is packed with improvements — more aerodynamic, simpler to build, easier to repair, [and] leverages more components from the car lineup for better scale/lower cost,” Priestley said on X. He added that Tesla will release more technical details in the coming months.
The company said the refreshed design enhances aerodynamics, payload capacity, and readiness for autonomous driving. These updates build on feedback and data gathered from Tesla’s pilot fleet, currently operating with PepsiCo and other logistics partners. The improvements also align with Tesla’s broader strategy to streamline its manufacturing processes and prepare for higher production volumes.

Tesla confirmed that the Semi will use its in-house 4680 battery cells, the same format being integrated into other upcoming models, including the Cybercab, which is scheduled to begin production in April 2026. The automaker plans to deploy the Semi within its own logistics network to electrify internal freight operations, particularly around Giga Texas, helping validate performance in real-world conditions.
Initial production of the updated Semi is expected to begin later this year at Tesla’s Nevada facility, with volume manufacturing targeted for the second half of 2026. The company aims to ramp up to 50,000 units annually and expects the first customer deliveries to begin next year. Tesla has not yet disclosed updated pricing or configuration details for the truck.
