Tesla has introduced a new rear-wheel-drive version of its Cybertruck, dubbed the Long Range model, as the automaker ramps up its presence in the Middle East. The variant marks a notable shift from earlier plans, featuring increased range but scaled-back features and hardware compared to its all-wheel-drive counterparts.
Originally announced in 2023 as part of a three-tier Cybertruck lineup, the single-motor RWD version was initially slated for a U.S. release later this year at a starting price of $61,000. While the official price for the new Long Range model has yet to be disclosed, it is expected to be higher due to its use of the same 123 kWh battery pack found in the more premium Dual and Tri Motor trims.

Tesla estimates the range at 563 km (350 miles), making it the longest-range Cybertruck currently available, aided by a roughly 500-pound weight reduction from its simplified design.
The new variant appears to trade off premium features in favor of extended range. Tesla’s website confirms the absence of a rear display screen and a significantly reduced suspension height, now fixed at 243 mm (9.5 inches), compared to the 406 mm (16 inches) air suspension found on the higher-end trims. The lack of an “extract mode” further suggests that the model may forgo Tesla’s advanced air suspension system.

Tesla has yet to clarify if the original lower-cost RWD Cybertruck with a smaller battery pack is still in development. For now, the new Long Range version seems to be part of the company’s strategy to offer high-range EV options in emerging markets like Saudi Arabia, where the automaker has just begun operations.
