Tesla launched the new J1772 wall connector for charging electric vehicles, whether Tesla or non-Tesla electric vehicles. The J1772 wall connector with 24 feet cable is priced at 550 US dollars. Called it is perfect for homes, apartments, hotels, even the workplace.
The J1772 wall connector will provide a range of up to 44 added miles per hour. Tesla also says that this wall charger is perfect for indoor and outdoor use
“It can also share power to maximize existing electrical capacity, automatically distribute power and allow you to charge multiple vehicles simultaneously,” Tesla wrote in a product description on the Tesla Shop website.
Tesla also revealed that its J1772 Wall Connector is compatible with most North American electric vehicles.
“Tesla vehicles will require an additional SAE J1772 Charging Adapter for charging, which is included with all Tesla vehicles upon delivery,” the Elon Musk-owned company added.
Tesla also provides options for commercial charging and allows developers, owners or commercial real estate managers to purchase more than 12 J1772 Wall Connectors if they wish.
Tesla’s launch of the J1772 wall connector for all types of electric vehicles comes ahead of its plans to open non-Tesla Superchargers across the US.
In July, the White House said that Tesla would begin production of new Supercharger equipment that would allow non-Tesla EV owners in North America to use the Tesla Supercharger.
Non-Tesla electric vehicles can be recharged in Tesla’s Supercharger in more countries
