Tesla has reduced the forgiveness window for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system’s “strikes,” cutting the reset period from seven days to three and a half days in its latest 2025.32+ software update.
The change was first noted in the updated online Owner’s Manual by Not a Tesla App. The system issues strikes if drivers fail to stay attentive, such as ignoring prompts to keep their hands on the wheel or eyes on the road. Accumulating multiple strikes within a short span can temporarily suspend access to FSD.
“Strikes now expire in just three and a half days instead of an entire week, which allows attentive drivers who make an occasional mistake to clear their record more quickly,” Not a Tesla App said in its report.
In earlier versions of FSD Beta, strikeouts could last weeks, with drivers waiting until a new software release before counters were reset. Tesla later shortened the period to two weeks, then to one week, before the latest halving.
While the shorter window may help drivers clear their record faster, repeated inattentiveness still carries risks. If a new strike is recorded before the 3.5-day reset expires, the countdown restarts, potentially extending the penalty period longer than before.
