Recharge said it has equipped all of its more than 2,500 fast-charging stations across Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark with card payment terminals, becoming the first major operator in the Nordic region to do so.
The rollout simplifies public electric vehicle (EV) charging access by eliminating the need for apps or accounts, particularly benefiting tourists and occasional users. “Charging should be easy, whether you drive an electric car every day or are just on your way to a long summer trip,” said David Lincoln Blom, Communications and Marketing Director at Recharge.
Alongside the hardware update, the charging provider has introduced two new app-based subscription plans. The ‘Recharge Flow’ plan is tailored to casual users and offers a rate of 5.99 NOK (about €0.50) per kilowatt hour with no monthly fee. The ‘Recharge Move’ plan, designed for regular drivers, lowers the rate to 4.79 NOK/kWh (around €0.40) with a monthly subscription fee of 69 NOK (approximately €5.80).
“With both card payment and flexible subscriptions, we make charging with Recharge even easier,” Blom added, noting the initiative supports the company’s goal to offer a flexible and accessible charging experience across the region.
The completion of the card terminal rollout follows a phased installation that began in 2023. It also comes as the EU enforces requirements for ad hoc payments at DC chargers under its Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), aimed at improving transparency and access in EV charging.
