Pony.ai, an autonomous driving company from China, has just announced its sixth-generation autonomous driving system.

The first vehicle to be equipped with this system is the Toyota S-AM, an electric hybrid platform with autonomous mobility. It is planned that the system will be tested on Chinese roads this year and used in robotaxi operations in the first half of 2023.

Pony.ai sixth-generation autonomous driving system is claimed to have cutting-edge sensors, using the NVIDIA DRIVE computing platform, and a stylish design for mass production fleets.

“We have accumulated more than 10 million kilometers of autonomous mileage worldwide on the open road and throughout 2022, we will continue to invest in our leading global R&D and robotaxi operations,” said James Peng, co-founder and CEO of Pony.ai .

Pony.ai is known to have started developing an autonomous driving system with Toyota for the S-AM model in early 2019. This system only has 23 sensors and computing capabilities.
