Polestar delivered a record 30,423 vehicles worldwide during the first six months of 2026, achieving its strongest first-half sales performance to date despite regulatory headwinds and softer demand in several markets.
The Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer said global retail deliveries increased 0.4% from the same period a year earlier, when it delivered 30,289 vehicles.
Excluding the United States, first-half deliveries rose 3.1% year over year to 28,562 vehicles, reflecting continued growth in the company’s core international markets.
Second-Quarter Deliveries Ease
Polestar delivered 17,296 vehicles during the second quarter, representing a 4.0% decline compared with the same period in 2025.
Sales excluding the United States followed a similar trend, falling 3.9% year over year to 16,175 units.
The company continues to report delivery figures both including and excluding the U.S. market as it prepares for changes to its North American business.
U.S. Sales to End After 2026 Model Year
The latest delivery results come after Polestar announced that it will effectively cease selling new vehicles in the United States beginning with the 2027 model year.
The decision follows the introduction of the U.S. Connected Vehicle Rule, which restricts the sale of new vehicles incorporating certain Chinese-connected hardware and software. Because Polestar’s current vehicle lineup relies extensively on manufacturing in China and Chinese-developed technologies, the company said it will no longer be able to offer new vehicles in the U.S. once the regulation takes effect.
Polestar will continue selling vehicles in the United States through the end of the 2026 model year before the new restrictions are implemented.
Global Retail Network Continues to Expand
Outside the United States, Polestar is continuing to strengthen its international presence.
The automaker said it now operates 235 retail locations worldwide, representing a 39% increase from a year earlier. The expansion is part of the company’s strategy to grow sales across Europe and Asia as it broadens its global retail network.
The latest figures underscore Polestar’s continued emphasis on international expansion as it adapts to evolving regulatory requirements and changing market conditions in the global electric vehicle industry.
