Polestar has rolled out a new over-the-air (OTA) software update for its flagship Polestar 3 electric SUV, introducing the Abbey Road Studios Mode—an audio enhancement feature designed in collaboration with the famed London recording studio and audio partner Bowers & Wilkins.
The Abbey Road Studios Mode is available exclusively for vehicles equipped with the optional Bowers & Wilkins system and delivers a tailored listening experience inspired by the historic studio’s control rooms and live spaces. The update includes four new sound presets—Intimate, Open, Energized, and Expansive—as well as a Producer mode for customized tuning.

“The Bowers & Wilkins sound system in Polestar 3 is already world class, but this new Abbey Road Studios Mode takes it to another level,” said Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar. “Its ability to deliver an audio experience so closely inspired by the Abbey Road Studios’ sonic signature means you’d swear you were right there in the legendary London building, not driving a performance SUV.”
Each sound preset aims to capture a different aspect of studio acoustics: Intimate focuses on close-up detail and warmth; Open replicates a live studio feel; Energized delivers vibrancy and vintage tone; while Expansive enhances spatial depth and power. Producer mode allows drivers to adjust tonality and ambience in real time.

Sally Davies, Managing Director of Abbey Road Studios, called the release a milestone for the studio’s expansion into the automotive sector. “We are hugely proud to bring the Abbey Road Studios Mode to the Bowers & Wilkins sound system in the Polestar 3,” she said. “For the first time, Abbey Road’s sonic DNA shapes the listening experience in the Polestar 3.”
The Bowers & Wilkins system features 25 speakers, a 1,610-watt power output, Dolby Atmos capability, and active road noise cancellation. Alongside the new audio modes, the OTA update also includes Stolen Vehicle Tracking and Smart Schedule for charging.
