Philippines-based green logistics provider Mober has expanded its operations to Thailand, launching an electric truck delivery service in Bangkok in partnership with Swedish retailer IKEA. The company deployed 21 electric trucks in the Bang Na district as part of the initiative to promote zero-emission urban logistics.
IKEA plans to increase the fleet with 30 additional electric trucks later this year, aiming to make at least 40% of its deliveries in Bangkok completely free of tailpipe emissions. While neither company disclosed the exact electric vehicle models, images suggest the trucks resemble the Chinese-made GAC X200 EV, which features a payload capacity of 1.9 tonnes and an estimated range of 230 kilometres.
“Coming from the Philippines, we at Mober are proud to bring our proven green logistics solutions to Thailand, a market with a thriving environment and a promising future for electric vehicles,” said Jade Hugo, Mober co-founder and head of new business.
Mober’s electric fleet, supporting IKEA’s deliveries across Bangkok, is expected to reduce carbon emissions by up to 87% per kilometre, equivalent to approximately 950 tonnes annually. IKEA aims for electric vehicles to represent 70% of its delivery operations in Thailand by 2030.
Dennis Ng, Mober CEO, said the expansion reflects the company’s vision to become a leading green logistics provider in Southeast Asia. “This strategic move is not just about introducing our EVs on the roads of Thailand but, more importantly, continuously building the foundation for sustainable and efficient urban delivery in the region,” Ng added.
Supporting its growing electric truck fleet, Mober has also established a charging hub covering 1,600 square metres in Bang Na. The facility includes four 22 kW chargers and two 60 kW chargers, enabling the fleet to complete between 150 and 200 deliveries daily.
Earlier this year, in March, Mober opened the Philippines’ largest electric truck charging hub in Pasay City, equipped with 56 chargers capable of servicing up to 200 trucks daily, reinforcing its commitment to expanding green logistics infrastructure in the region.
