Octillion Power Systems, a California-based manufacturer of high-density lithium-ion battery packs, has expanded its partnership with Vision Marine Technologies Inc. to supply battery systems for electric outboard motors. The agreement covers the production of Vision-branded battery packs tailored for the E-Motion™ 180E propulsion system and is intended specifically for the U.S. market.
Production will take place at Octillion’s facility in Reno, Nevada, which the company says will help ensure a secure and efficient domestic supply chain. The battery systems are engineered for marine environments and are expected to offer high energy density and improved durability. Vision Marine will integrate the battery packs into its electric outboard systems for both commercial and recreational boating applications.
The new battery systems mark what the companies describe as one of the first sets of high-voltage packs purpose-built for electric marine propulsion. The design emphasizes ease of integration, extended range, and consistent power delivery, which are key factors for boaters seeking electric alternatives to traditional internal combustion engines.
Octillion and Vision Marine have previously collaborated on performance-focused projects, including speed demonstrations with electric boats. The companies aim to build on that relationship with expanded production capacity and a broader push into the U.S. electric marine sector. Both firms have cited the importance of reducing emissions and offering more sustainable solutions in the boating industry.
For Vision Marine, the partnership provides access to Octillion’s battery development and manufacturing capabilities, potentially allowing it to accelerate production and respond to rising demand in the U.S. market. By sourcing components domestically, the companies also aim to reduce lead times and improve cost efficiency.
Octillion has delivered more than 2 million battery systems globally, with applications spanning the automotive, marine, construction, agricultural, and energy storage sectors. The company operates 11 facilities across the United States, India, and China.
