Nio said a third-generation ES8 sport utility vehicle has become its one-millionth mass-produced car, marking a major manufacturing milestone for the Chinese electric vehicle maker as it scales up sales and infrastructure.
The vehicle rolled off the production line at Nio’s F2 plant in Hefei, Anhui province, where the company held a ceremony to mark the occasion. The milestone comes shortly after Nio celebrated its 11th anniversary in November.

Founder, chairman and chief executive William Li said the company is targeting sustained expansion, with annual sales growth of between 40% and 50% in the coming years. He also reiterated Nio’s infrastructure ambitions, saying the automaker plans to operate more than 10,000 charging stations and over 10,000 battery swap stations by 2030. As of now, Nio operates 3,683 battery swap stations and 8,542 charging stations across China.
The production milestone follows a record delivery performance in December, when Nio delivered 48,135 vehicles. Full-year deliveries for 2025 reached 326,028 units, representing a 46.9% increase from a year earlier, according to figures released by the company earlier this month.

By the end of December, cumulative deliveries since Nio’s founding stood at 997,592 vehicles, bringing the company within days of surpassing the one-million-delivery mark. The production milestone therefore closely mirrors Nio’s sales trajectory as output and deliveries converge.
Founded in Shanghai in November 2014, Nio has expanded rapidly from its early years as one of China’s first electric vehicle startups. It marked its 100,000th vehicle off the assembly line in April 2021 and its 500,000th in May 2024.

In recent years, Nio has broadened its product and brand portfolio beyond its core premium lineup. In May 2024, the company launched its mass-market sub-brand Onvo, followed by the introduction of the Firefly brand in 2025, aimed at smaller and more affordable electric vehicles.
By the end of last year, cumulative deliveries totaled 829,609 vehicles under the Nio main brand, 128,569 units under Onvo and 39,414 vehicles under the Firefly brand, highlighting the growing role of newer marques in the company’s overall volume growth.
