Nio said it has delivered its 40,000th third-generation ES8 sport utility vehicle, reaching its annual delivery target for the model just over three months after launch.

The company disclosed the milestone on its official social media channels, noting that the latest delivery took place in Zhongshan, in southern China’s Guangdong province. The update follows the delivery of the 30,000th unit only 11 days earlier, indicating a rapid pace of shipments toward the end of the year.

Nio officially launched the third-generation ES8 on Sept. 20, with customer deliveries beginning the following day. The model is available in six- and seven-seat configurations and is priced from 406,800 yuan ($58,010), including the battery pack, making it one of the company’s higher-priced offerings.

The automaker’s founder and chief executive, William Li, previously said the company planned annual production of about 40,000 units for the model. The latest delivery figures suggest that target has now been met.

The ES8 is positioned as one of Nio’s flagship models and is among the most expensive domestically produced electric sport utility vehicles in China. According to industry data, Nio delivered 36,275 vehicles in November, with the ES8 accounting for 10,689 units. Deliveries in September and October stood at 2,803 and 6,703 units, respectively, including some vehicles from earlier model generations.

The performance of the ES8 comes as Nio seeks to stabilize sales volumes amid intense competition in China’s electric vehicle market, where pricing pressure and rapid model updates have become increasingly common.
